I have high expectations for every single student that walks into my classroom; this looks to be a very active and successful school year for all!

This website exists as a connection to the classroom for both parents and students. Information in terms of my teaching methods, classroom policies, course materials, and overall philosophy of education can be found within the site as well.

If you have any questions now or would like to introduce yourself, please feel free to use the contact information on this site to do so.

NEWS

  • World History
    • Students are in the final phase of their Absolutism & Enlightenment projects! Ultimately these projects call for students to analyze one of the nations that we have studied, creating a project that serves to explain the events, individuals, and overall history of the nation during the time period studied. Students have selected one of the following roles for their project:
      • Philosopher Analysis
      • Memorial
      • Coat of Arms
      • Event Analysis
      • Family Tree Analysis

Student projects will be presented February 3rd-8th and consist of a paper summarizing each student's work, individual projects, and formal group presentations.

  • Real to Reel History
    • Students recently finished their coverage of the award winning documentary Harlan County USA and will next dive into yet another documentary, Born Into Brothels. These two works serve to introduce us to one of many types of media as well as provide a sociological look into cultures and situations that are basically unknown to OHS Students.

    • Mrs. Jenkins recently applied for a grant through DonorsChoose.com; as of December 26th, her grant was fully funded! This grant will provide students with a wider variety of films to watch and analyze in the classroom. More details will be coming home with students.

Announcements

Mrs. Jenkins encourages you to stay up-to-date with your student's grades by checking GoEdustar frequently. If you would like more information on how to do so, contact the OHS Office at (785) 229-8020.

Mrs. Jenkins has created an extension site to TeacherTash. The purpose of this extension site is to make available assignments and forms for download. The hope is that making work and information more accessable to students outside of the school day will encourage completion of work. The site can be accessed by visiting http://www.k12lessonplans.com/teachertash.
